April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. In the seventh grade she began taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion to write songs. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. When April was 14 years old, she devoted long hours creating song ideas and perfecting the music. Over the next few months, she started taking notes with her father on trips to LA and NY. April started to include other subjects in Take My Hand for the people in her life who are struggling with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle influencer as well as working in partnerships with brands that are clean and healthy like Ilia, has built an impressive following. She was born without her left hand. It's part of who she is--but that's not the entire story. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on it. It's a message. There is more to us than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and we contain many different aspects. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I do not intend to let it define my personal life. I'm not looking to be only identified as a specialist in disability. It doesn't affect my everyday life. All is well and I have learned to make adjustments. Because it's my identity and something worthy of talking about. Lockhart encourages us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. She still admits having gone through a few phases with her physique, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing clothes that showed the arms of her. She dresses according to her preferences and proudly posts pictures of herself dressed in outfits she chooses on social platforms. Self-love, according to her, is like a journey. "I believe that you'll ever get there," she said. It's a fact that I see with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. I think it's essential to surround yourself with people who can discern and understand your heart.
